Hi, my name is Chris and I'm a web producer / manager / programmer.

About

I'm a genuine, approachable person that doesn't geek-speak my way through a conversation (unless you need me to). I care about design and I care about the usability of a product. I have an eye for details and an understanding of the roles of every person on the team. Even if that team is just me.

Over 15 years of experience with front-end stack development, back-end technologies, managing teams of programmers and working closely with visual designers and programmers to create usable prototypes and test UI/UX. Communication with different team members, understanding the goals and constraints of a project and providing excellent customer service are things I consider standard.

I can work as part of a team or build one from the many skillful developers, designer and professionals I've had the pleasure of working with over the years.

When I'm not thinking about code or design I live a pretty modest life. I enjoy bicycling, gardening, fly fishing, music, a good bourbon or rye, talking with my friends and I'm a rabid Detroit Red Wings fan.

Work

Below is a small collection of projects that I've worked on over the past few years. For all of these projects I was either the producer, programmer, project manager or all three. In some cases I was the sole programmer and others I managed teams both domestic as well as international.

LEE&CO

Role: Producer, Programmer
Technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Built on SilverStripe CMS and Framework

Designed by Abel Crew for Lee & Co. Contractors.

Lee & Co. were struggling with their Squarespace website. Like most off the shelf, one size fits all websites, it didn't fit very well. So they asked me to rebuild the site in something easier to maintain and customize.

As producer I was in direct contact with both the client and the designer. As programmer I built the site on the SilverStripe framework and CMS and it includes a custom grid that I built and maintain.

Getting More

Technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Built on SilverStripe CMS and Framework

Built for New York Times Pulitzer Prize winner and Best Seller, Stuart Diamond. As producer I coordinated the development of this project between the design team, development team and client.

As programmer I created various parts of the front-end as well as some back-end functionality.

k9

K9 Contenders

Role: Project Manager, Producer/Programmer
Technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Built on SilverStripe CMS and Framework with integrated MailChimp API

Produced for DCC Lab. I was both project manager and front end developer for this project.

As project manager I coordinated between design and programming teams and reported directly to the end client.

This site is also built on a custom, responsive CSS grid system that I built and maintain.

ccf

Colten Cowell Foundation

Role: Producer, Programmer
Technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Built on SilverStripe CMS and Framework, Integrations with Twitter, Instagram and Stripe eCommerce API's

Created by Designer/Creative Director Jennifer Anderson, formerly of Ogilvy, and produced by DCC Lab. As the producer, I oversaw the development team, coordinated feedback from the design agency, communicated between teams and reported directly to the end client regarding deliverables and expectations.

nebf

New England Biolabs Foundation

Role: Project manager, Producer/Programmer
Technologies: CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Built on SilverStripe CMS and Framework, Multilingual

¿Habla español? No problem, this site is multilingual.

I oversaw every part of this multilingual project from proposal to design as well as some programming. Produced for DCC Lab, I coordinated the design and programming teams and reported directly to the end client.

The client (a not for profit) had a strict budget, but we were able to deliver everything they asked for. On time and on budget.

In my free time I build and maintain open source projects that you can download and use for commercial or private use. In some cases these are forks of other projects that I have built upon, but in all cases they come with an open source license. Enjoy!

StreamBuilder

StreamBuilder is a highly customizable, automated build environment well suited for HTML, CSS and JavaScript prototyping. It runs on the (streaming) build system gulp.js and includes the Sass CSS extension language.
